Dried Fruits: Do they lose weight or gain weight?
Dried Fruits: Do they lose weight or gain weight?
In nature, nothing is lost and nothing is created, everything is transformed. Remember Lavoisier's law?
Dried fruits are normal fruits that have had their water content diminished by drying or exposure to heat. This decrease in water causes fruits to become denser and more compact foods.
For example, supposing a grape passes weighs 1 gram and that a normal grape weighs 3, 100 grams of raisins has an equal amount of calories and sugar than 300 grams of normal grape.
Advocates say dried fruits are a great alternative to healthy snacks, accusers say they are nothing more than sweets and natural candies and that even interfere with weight loss. Who's right?
Let's get to the facts, so you can make an informed, balanced and intelligent decision = D
The facts:
- Dried fruits are indeed sweets and natural candies that contain fiber, phytonutrients, antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals and some very interesting properties that I will cite.
- "In life everything passes, even the grapes pass." But the grapes are gone, it takes longer to get through why dried fruit is better preserved than normal fruits. Drying fruits is a valid and useful way to conserve them =)

- A lot of dried fruit, because it is denser, has more sugar. 59% of a raisin is sugar 66% of the dates and 38% of the plums. From a quarter to half of that sugar is fructose, which we know to have, in excess, a negative effect on health and weight loss.
- It is easy to consume very dense foods in excess, for example above, 50 grams of raisins are 30 grams of sugar, 7 to 15 grams of fructose (the daily limit considered safe by Dr. Mercola, for example, is about 25 grams of fructose)
- Prunes are rich in fiber and sorbitol a laxative effect that can be very helpful in cases of intestinal constipation.
- Consuming dry dates at the end of pregnancy seems to facilitate cervical dilation and consequently labor.

- Some of the dried fruits sold there are covered with sugar or preservatives/dyes and sulfites, that is, they are processed food, made up and produced most food "products".
- Dried fruits, because of the last naturally longer, are more susceptible to mold, fungi, and company, which can cause adverse reactions, allergic and inflammatory.
- You can make dry fruits, even at home, easily. If you produce fruits at home or have access to organic/natural fruits, this can be an interesting method of preserving and processing your fruits. Better to put of a glass in sugar clogging, for example, hehe. A homemade dried fruit can be a useful, balanced and very high-quality food.
The Conclusions:
Seeing all these facts, I concluded that dried fruits are too much sugar and fructose to be eaten at ease during weight loss, but they are very useful foods and extremely nutritious to be totally abandoned.
In my opinion, 4 most important points:
- Great to consume without worrying about days off or to be used in a controlled and wise way within your daily carbohydrate/fructose limit. Here I think it is also worth mentioning that the best options are the dried fruits originally less dense in sugar.
- Useful for functional application, eg plums in the case of constipation.
- If you have to choose between a biscuit and a plum, the plum will always be a better option than the biscuit, for example.
- The more natural the better, with due care in the preparation/storage due to mold/fungi.
Do you agree? Disagree Been in doubt? Leave your comment and opinion =)
Hugs!
